Mary, the fairest maiden of the village, was chosen queen of the May. For the festivities, Mary is dressed in her pale yellow tagged ballet dress. Mary and the other villagers will dance and sing around the May Pole. After the dance, Mary and her friends will gather spring flowers, place them in May baskets and hang them on the doors of friends and relatives. Then they ring the bells and run away, leaving the flowers as a surprise. Click to play the music.
